Airship sessions and Milk Bar show

Hello again. Will and I are heading to Airship Studios tomorrow to record vocals for a few hours. There are a few parts over four songs off the next record that we never recorded at Hyde St last year due to time constraints. The mixing continues to come along, with it looking closer and closer like by the end of the month the whole thing will be completely done. The album’s running sequence at least at this point appears to be finalized, and a title should also be forthcoming! In the meantime we’ve been learning two new songs, “Pterodactyl” and “Hop-Skip-Jump,” the first of many other new songs (“Tiles,” “Silencer,” “The Ground Is Beginning To Break,” “February Is Now October,” “Alexandria’s Cocoon,” two others without titles as of yet) that we’ll be learning over the next three months. At that point, those songs, along with “Of Night,” a song we’ve been doing live for about a year and a half now, will make up our fourth album that we’ll start recording next year. Other than that, we’re looking forward to tour show at Milk Bar on May 24th with Hungry Skinny and Major Powers and the Lo-Fi Symphony. Both bands have wholly unique sounds and energetic chemistry on stage, we can’t wait for you to hear/see them if you haven’t yet! Our friend Hard Rich will also be spinning a hip hop set of old school classics and modern masterpieces for an hour after Hungry Skinny’s performance. He goes on at midnight. Come rock!

4/20 and Art Boutiki shows coming up

Hello again! We’re very excited about our two upcoming shows:

Grant & Green Saloon (1371 Grant @ Green in San Francisco), Friday, 4/20 with Plastic Villains and Major Powers & The Lo-Fi Symphony, 9:45 pm, FREE SHOW

SLG Art Boutiki & Gallery in San Jose, Saturday, April 28th with Contra Ville, Ghost of Wright’s and Lucid Optics from 7-10 pm, $10 cover at door.

We’re very excited to being playing with some new friends (Plastic Villains, Major Powers, Ghosts of Wright’s) and some old ones (Contra Ville, Lucid Optics) . . . expect a lot of surprises to pop up in the set! Final mixing of the new album is progressing, hopefully a few more weeks and a title/sequence shall appear. At this point it seems likely the first single will be “Dualk,” featuring Garret Riley of Hungry Skinny on additional vocals. See you at the shows, more news soon!

Edging ever closer . . .

Greetings and salutations! We are happy to report that four of the twelve songs on our upcoming third album now have final mixes: “10,000,” “A Victory?,” “Synching Through The Void” and “Two Weeks Later, A Gate Glitch.” “Leningrad (Slips and Knots)” is very near completion at this point and since rough mixes were completed of all 12 before heading in for the final touches, I’d say by the time we play our 4/20 show at Grant & Green it should be completely done, sequenced, and possibly even named! So happy we’re this close to the finish line with this record; it’s been a great journey, now nearing a bit over the year mark (started sessions for the record March 22nd 2011). More news to come, and expect a fully loaded merch store with every shirt, piece of underwear, tank top, albums both in physical and downloadable format, and much more very soon!

Hello all! We just returned from a weekend trip down to L.A. to play two shows: one in Santa Monica at the renowned bar TRiP, and another at a housewarming party for old friend and fellow artist Iris Green. Iris now resides in a loft within a gigantic warehouse and it was a blast helping her ring in the new place with two separate sets and an unexpected late night/early morning encore performance of “(She’s So) Electric.” Bartender Taylor Noland requested we perform the old Isley Brothers classic “Shout” during our 2nd set, so we one-upped him and invited him on stage to duet with me (Karl here) on a song we had literally never once performed until that moment. Hello all! Our website has relaunched but is still a ways off from being finished. In the next 24 hours we will have tons more pics from the recording sessions of our upcoming third album, to be released this summer, added to the gallery; there will also be a “listen” tab and a “videos” tab added. Expect regular blogging to commence as of now, and with that I’d like to let you in on all the happenings in Greeningworld. First off, Will only has three songs left to complete rough mixes of: ”Into The Fugue,” which he’s currently working on, “The Brightness of the Sun” and “Sunflower.” Once those three are completed in their rough form, each of the 12 songs will get a final coat of paint and will then be sent my way so a running order can be chosen. Once I complete the sequence of the album, Will’s going to give the thing a name and we’ll be immediately working on getting it mastered while the cover art gets created. We’re very excited to share our first-ever album as a five piece with you all; working at Hyde Street Studios, Studio D, was an incredible experience, and the fun we had throughout the sessions (March through September last year) shines through on the tracks! We’re also confirmed to play the 2nd annual Davis Music Festival, on June 23rd. Hello all! Welcome to the relaunch of www.thegreening.com. Since the last time I blogged, we’ve completed recording sessions for our as-yet-untitled third album at Hyde Street Studios. Will is currently mixing the album, due out in spring of next year, and we’ve got a couple shows coming up. We play SF State’s music festival Bad Acoustics 3 at McKenna Hall Tuesday, December 6th and our first-ever Friday show at old stomping grounds Grant & Green Saloon Friday, December 9th. We’re very much looking forward to those shows and to the premiere of two new videos in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more . . .

Hello all. Been eons since I last updated, so many things to share! First off, we rocked Zachary’s birthday show at Grant & Green and had some of the most fun we’ve had yet. It was a magical evening shared with fans, friends and family, and featured the debut of two brand new songs in the set. One week later we played with old friends The 21st Century (BEVAN!) at The Ivy Room in Albany. The room was one of the more unique we’ve played, feeling a bit like playing in someone’s living room in the 1970s.

Danny’s video for “Don’t Have The Time” is now 50% complete! Being a one man animation team all by his lonesome likely insures it’ll be late October when the video is unveiled on this page and www.thegreening.com, but it looks FANTASTIC so far, he’s really outdone himself this time!

Will’s directorial debut, “Introduction To The Greening By Daniel Vaccerelli” is FINISHED and will be unveiled at the new-new (as opposed to old-new) www.thegreening.com once it’s unveiled in the next two weeks!

Lastly, we’re hard at work on album three! Will and I have already completed most of the overdubs for the demos of “Maryann,” “Leningrad, Slips and Knots,” “Dualk” and “10,000″ and we hope to finish all overdubs on 20 demos for the upcoming album by late next month. After that’s completed, Taich will right more finalized, studio drum parts for these songs upon hearing the layers he never gets to hear live. Once we’ve laid THOSE drums down, then we’ll make two mixes of all 20 songs: one regular mix, one with the rhythm section extremely up front, and get all 40 mixes to Zachary’s brother Adam, who shall be learning my bass parts verbatim to be guest studio bassist on album three! We hope to have all five us in Hyde Street Studios laying down the drums, bass and guitar tracks for this record by early February. More news soon!

Hello everyone! We’re gonna be playing a free show this coming Thursday night at Grant & Green, and it just so happens to fall on Zachary’s birthday! We’re playing four, count ‘em, FOUR new songs and it’s gonna be a blast.

In the meantime, we’ve been behind the scenes working like mad on finishing up the video entitled “An Introduction To The Greening,” brainstorming the final scenes for the “Thunderstruck/Thunder’s Truck” video, as well as starting to lay the blueprints for our upcoming cover of Beck’s long-out-of-print debut album Golden Feelings! That’s right, The Greening is covering Beck’s Golden Feelings in its entirety, a la Beck’s record club. Gonna rock. That album is very adventurous, fun and open to interpretation and we’re looking forward to having some of our friends guest on some of the tracks.
